The MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories - Part IX: 2018 Annual (1879-1895)

The latest collection of new Holmes stories published by MX to help restore the former home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. To be released concurrently with Part X on May 22, 2018.

Once again, the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson continue in this acclaimed anthology series, with thirty-seven new tales presented in two companion volumes - more Holmes than could fit into one book! 

In 2015, The MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories was first published, a huge three-book set featuring over sixty new traditional Holmes exploits, all set within the correct time period. Soon, the demand for even more traditional Holmes adventures led to further volumes. The next year brought Part IV: 2016 Annual, and then Part V: Christmas Adventures. In spring 2017 there was Part VI: 2017 Annual, and that fall revealed the massive two-volume set, Parts VII and VIII: Eliminate the Impossible. Now we present another two simultaneous volumes, Parts IX and X: 2018 Annual (1879-1895) and (1896-1916). 

There can be no argument that Sherlock Holmes is one of the most famous and recognizable figures in the world. There were only sixty narratives brought to us by the original Literary Agent, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Clearly that is not enough. 

Watson once wrote that he kept his unpublished cases in his old Tin Dispatch Box. Now, with the publication of these latest volumes, that box has again been explored by some of today's best Sherlockian writers, all of whom are donating their royalties from these anthologies toward the restoration of Undershaw, one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's houses, and the location where The Hound of the Baskervilles and many later Holmes stories were completed.

Sherlock Holmes vs. Dracula (1980)

The Solar Pons Companion (2017)

The seventh volume in DIPs "The Complete Adventures of Solar Pons" also contains essays by Basil Copper and the history of his involvement with "the Sherlock Holmes of Praed Street."

I am not writing new Solar Pons stories. My Solar Pons material was authorised and commissioned by Arkham House Publishers, Inc. back in the 1970s, and was written then but, owing to changes at Arkham House, they were never published by that imprint. 

The tales remained in limbo for something like twenty years before the originals began to be published by Fedogan & Bremer of Minneapolis. All date from the 1970s and early 1980s so perhaps original copyright lines should have been printed together with the new publication dates which would have obviated all misunderstandings. 

So, the present volume and all the Pons tales from my pen were commissioned and authorised by the then editorial and legal personnel at Arkham House and by the estate of the late August Derleth, who was a great friend of mine and very enthusiastic about my work.

The Case of the Russian Chessboard (2011)

The Lost Chronicles of Sherlock Holmes (2016)

A second volume of "lost" Sherlock Holmes stories by Denis O. Smith.

'Is it really possible, do you suppose,' said Sherlock Holmes to me one morning, as we took breakfast together, 'that a healthy and robust man may be so stricken with terror that he drops down dead?' 

So begins Dr Watson's account at the beginning of 'The Adventures of the Brown Box', one of twelve new stories in another wonderful collection from acknowledged master of the form, Denis O. Smith. The other mysteries, many of them never previously published in a book, include 'The Adventure of the Velvet Mask', 'The Adventure of the Tomb on the Hill' and 'The Secret of Shoreswood Hall'.
