"Somewhere in the vaults of the bank of Cox and Co., at Charing Cross, there is a travel-worn and battered tin dispatch-box with my name, John H. Watson, M.D., painted upon the lid. It is crammed with papers, nearly all of which are records of cases to illustrate the curious problems which Mr. Sherlock Holmes has at various times to examine."

Sherlock Holmes & The Twelve Thefts of Christmas (2022)

More Holmes for the holidays.

A thrilling chase as Sherlock Holmes is set a fiendish puzzle by Irene Adler over a snowy London Christmas, in this stunningly packaged mystery.
Sherlock Holmes’s discovery of a mysterious musical score initiates a devious Christmas challenge set by Irene Adler, with clues that are all variations on the theme of ‘theft without theft', such as a statue missing from a museum found hidden in the room it was taken from.
In the snowy London lead-up to Christmas, Holmes’s preoccupation with the "Adler Variations" risks him neglecting the case of his new client, Norwegian arctic explorer Fridtjof Nansen, who has received a series of threats in the form of animal carcasses left on his doorstep. Could they really be gifts from a strange spirit that has pursued Nansen since the completion of his expedition to cross Greenland? And might this case somehow be related to Irene Adler’s great game?

Sherlock Holmes and the Case of Sabina Hall (1989)

L.B. Greenwood's follow-up to her 1986 novel Sherlock Holmes and the Case of Raleigh Legacy. Beautiful cover art by Kazu Sano.

At the behest of a university acquaintance, Sherlock Holmes joins Dr. Watson on a mission of mercy to the bleak Bristol coast. But Holmes is not motivated by altruism, and when they reach Sabina Hall, his suspicions are justified. Miserly old Silas Andrews, who was to be Watson's patient, lies dead––and a peculiar smell on his medicine spoon means only one thing to Holmes: poison!

The drafty, dilapidated Hall teams with suspects: Bertha Garth, Sila's coldhearted sister-in-law, all too gleeful over her large inheritance; servants Joel and Belle Harper, who expect––and do not receive––a legacy; cheeky housemaid Sally Kipp, mysteriously far from her Cockney homes; nasty village handyman Neb, bitter over conditions at Silas's now-derelict coal mine; and Aunt Garth's put-upon companion, Agnes, whose sweetness leaves Watson, at least, sure of her innocence...

Mrs. Hudson and the Spirits' Curse (2022)

Mrs. Hudson takes center stage in this adventure first published in 2004. Part of a five book series of Mrs. Hudson adventures.

What if Baker Street’s most gifted resident wasn't named Sherlock Holmes? What if, instead, that title belonged to his unassuming housekeeper, Mrs.Hudson? Playfully breaking with convention, Mrs. Hudson and the Spirits' Curse brings a fresh twist to the classic Victorian mystery.
An evil stalks London, blown in from the tropics. Stories of cursed giant rats and malign spirits haunt the garrets of the East London neighborhood of Limehouse. A group of merchants are dying one by one. The elementary choice to investigate these mysterious deaths is, of course, the team of Holmes and Dr Watson. But the unique gifts of their housekeeper, Mrs Hudson, and her orphaned assistant Flotsam, will also be needed to solve the case. Can she do it all under the nose of Sherlock himself?

Sherlock Holmes Meets Annie Oakley (1986)

Stanley Shaw's follow-up to his first Holmes pastiche, Sherlock Holmes at the 1902 Fifth Test. Unlike that first book, it appears this was only published as a hardcover.

The sensation of 1887 is the visit to London of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. The exploits of Buffalo Bill, Chief Red Shirt and the sharpshooting Annie Oakley are exciting everyone's imagination. But not that of Sherlock Holmes. Not even Doctor Watson's enthusiasm for the visitors can, it seems, save Holmes from the clutches of one of his profound depressions. Until, that is, a telegram arrives to summon the Great Detective to Windsor Great Park and a baffling mystery which will involve Holmes and Watson in the affairs of Annie Oakley, The 'Peerless Lady Wing-Shot' herself...

Observations by Gaslight (2021)

Sherlockian Lyndsay Faye returns with a collection of Holmes stories told from various points of view.  Faye was recently interviewed on the excellent However Improbable podcast

A new collection of Sherlockian tales that shows the Great Detective and his partner, Watson, as their acquaintances saw them

Lyndsay Faye―international bestseller, translated into fifteen languages, and a two-time Edgar Award nominee―first appeared on the literary scene with Dust and Shadow, her now-classic novel pitting Sherlock Holmes against Jack the Ripper, and later produced The Whole Art of Detection, her widely acclaimed collection of traditional Watsonian tales. Now Faye is back with Observations by Gaslight, a thrilling volume of both new and previously published short stories and novellas narrated by those who knew the Great Detective.

Beloved adventuress Irene Adler teams up with her former adversary in a near-deadly inquiry into a room full of eerily stopped grandfather clocks. Learn of the case that cemented the lasting friendship between Holmes and Inspector Lestrade, and of the tragic crime which haunted the Yarder into joining the police force. And witness Stanley Hopkins’ first meeting with the remote logician he idolizes, who will one day become his devoted mentor.

From familiar faces like landlady Mrs. Hudson to minor characters like Lomax the sub-librarian, Observations by Gaslight―entirely epistolary, told through diaries, telegrams, and even grocery lists―paints a masterful portrait of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson as you have never seen them before.

The Case of the Baker Street Irregular (1981)

Robert Newman's tale of a budding "Baker Street Irregular" kicked off a series of books featuring the exploits of young Andrew and Sara. Only this first book featured Holmes. First published in 1978, this is the 1981 Bantam paperback edition.

A mysterious, broken-nosed cabby, a beautiful actress, and a villainous art heist have one thing in common—but the only one man who knows what it is has methods that are a little, shall we say . . . irregular
Late Victorian London: home to gas streetlights, bands of ragged urchins, and now, young Andrew Craigie, who recently arrived from a tiny Cornwall village with his stern guardian, Mr. Dennison. At first the city feels dark and unwelcoming, but just around the corner is bustling Baker Street, where Andrew meets his first friend, Sara. Before long, London becomes downright interesting.
But things get a little too exciting one night when Mr. Dennison doesn’t come home, and suddenly Andrew is on his own. Whom can he turn to in a strange city? Frantic, he goes to the tall, pipe-smoking, hat-wearing man at 221B, a man who Sara says is a famous detective—a man named Mr. Holmes.

The Meeting of the Minds: The Cases of Sherlock Holmes & Solar Pons II (2021)

The second volume in a collection of new Sherlock Holmes and Solar Pons stories by David Marcum, Mark Mower, Harry DeMaio, Nick Cardillo, Thaddeus Tuffentsamer, Jayantika Ganguly, Chris Chan , Stephen Herczeg, and I.A. Watson.

The world knows of Sherlock Holmes. For those who haven’t yet been lucky enough to yet meet Mr. Pons, one should know that he is a Great Detective in the Holmesian Mold: He models himself after Holmes, wearing the expected deerstalker and Inverness. He investigates using ratiocination, observation, and deduction. His adventures, set in the 1920’s and 1930’s, are transcribed by his friend, Dr. Parker. He lives in London, working closely with Scotland Yard, and he helps to fill the vacuum left when Sherlock Holmes retired to Sussex.
Throughout the Pontine Canon, there are references to Sherlock Holmes. For long decades, Pons fans and scholars have speculated on the connection between the two. Now, after all this time – nearly one-hundred years since the last Canonical Holmes story was published and Derleth recorded the first Pons tale – Belanger Books proudly presents the stories that provide answers – The Meeting of the Minds . . . .
These companion volumes contain eighteen new adventures in two companion volumes by some of today’s best Holmesian and Ponsian authors. Join us again at 7B Praed Street, where The Game is Afoot!
